In 2007, Baoding put forward the goal of "building a solar city" to accelerate the development of new energy industry and promote the application of solar products in urban production, life and other fields. Today, the solar energy application projects completed in Baoding's urban buildings, gardens, traffic signals, scenic spots and other fields can save 21 million kilowatt hours of electricity per year, convert 6720 tons of standard coal, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 17000 tons. Among them, 159 residential areas have completed solar energy transformation projects for lighting, 102 major traffic intersections have all completed the application and transformation of solar energy traffic lights, and 37 road sections have been installed with 700 solar energy street lights - new energy, which has already quietly entered the lives of Baoding citizens.
